Great news!  BatterySpace.com supplies Battery Management System (BMS-LF24) for Li-Fe-PO battery pack up to 77V (24 cells or packs in series) with Max. 500A rate.

BMS-LF24 consists of one Master Module, coupled up to 24 individual Slave Modules. Each Slave module can control one 3.2V cell or group of parallel Li-Fe-PO 3.2V cells with two 500A rated solid relays. The BMS-LF24 aggregates cell data and coordinates cell balancing. Outputs are provided to control solid relays to perform protection functions. All battery data is available via RS-232 in text format, making this BMS an excellent choice for logging and battery system development.  By combining multi BMS-LF24, you can built and manage a Li-Fe-PO battery pack for as high a voltage as you want.

Features and Specifications of Master Module:

  • Relay Operating Voltage: 8-32VDC  to run solid relay - not included  (EV-200 relays require min 9VDC to energize the relay)
  • Internal Fuse: 5A Fast Acting, 1/4" x 1 1/4"
  • Typical Supply Current: 15mA (not including Solid Relay consumption)
  • Size (LxWxH):             12.00" (305mm) x 4.87" (124mm) x 1.20"(30.5mm), included relay mounted on the Master Board
    • Note: the height is determine by the relay being use!
  • Weight (w/o relays): 12oz (345g)
  • Innovative cell balancing scheme is efficient yet tolerant of capacity mismatch
  • Simultaneous sampling of all cell voltages for insensitivity to current draw
  • Fully isolated from cells
  • Each Master Module can handles 2-24 Slave Modules  (up to 77V Li-Fe-PO Pack) with 500A Max. charging / discharging
  • Separate outputs for charge and discharge contactors
  • Audible warning codes for different faulty conditions (BMS will cutoff when battery is above or below normal voltage, high temperature or wrong polarity)
  • Automatic recovery from faulty conditions
  • Factory configured for Li-Fe-PO cells  (BMS for Li-Ion cell is available at related product section below )
  • Slave Module -  each module can handle one cell or group of parallel cells. ( please order separately at related product section below )
  • Two 500A EV-200 solid relays (contactors) are included on the Master Module and can be remove from the board and put on any desired location if you have a height limitation:
  • All pack data available via RS-232 (CAN or Optional RS-485).  See Example BMS-LF24 Data Output at below

Cell voltage is reported in mV, and cell temperature in 10ths of a degree C. This data maybe logged on a computer running Hyper Terminal, etc. or used directly by other system components.

  • Functions for protection  (for one Slave Module)
    • Cut-off charging power if any cell or group voltage beyond 4.095V, and auto-recover if below 3.6V. However, charger should still set at 3.8V per cell/pack
    • Cut-off charging power if any cell or group temperature beyond 60oC, and auto recover if temperature below 60oC
    • Cut-off discharging power if any cell or group 's voltage below 2.4V, and auto-recover if voltage > 2.65V
    • Warning: no protection on Max. charging / discharging current.  You must control charging / discharging current based on battery cell or group's specification with appropriate relays and external fuse (not included).
  • Charger is not included.  You can choose a our 76.8V LFP smart charger (15A) or HV smart charger or DC power supply based on your desired battery pack voltage and capacity.
    • Power supply voltage = 3.65V x number of cells or groups . Example: 77V pack, charger voltage shall  >88VDC
    • Max. current in DC power supply shall same as Max. charging current specified by Li-Fe-PO cell
