1) Regarding non-UN38.3 Tested Lithium batteries
This battery has not been UN38.3 testing yet. It can only be ship as prototype for testing purpose. According to 49CFR 173.185 e, it can only be transported by UPS/Fedex Ground as a Class 9 material. (No USPS) . All Class 9 package require receiver's signature . Shipping carrier UPS/Fedex will charge handling fee for all Class 9 packages. Please add Handling fee into shopping cart before check out, failure to do so will cause delay of processing and we will email you for handling fee.


If you need to order more for production, you have to pay for UN38.3 testing. For price and lead time, please refer here. Due to the high volume of testing job at BatterySpace own lab, we can only test non custom battery pack and high demanded battery pack at this moment. But we can help you arrange the testing from a 3rd party lab.

Resale -If you will resale the non UN38.3 tested batteries, please make sure to pass the regulation to your customer and make sure they know the batteries can NOT be shipped by air and they should follow the 49CFR 173.185e rules.


2) Handling fee for Order with lithium-ion/polymer/LiFePO4/LiMnNi/LiNiCoMn batteries-UN38.3 Passed and non-UN38.3 Tested Batteries

• If need to ship by air (UN38.3 Passed only): Lithium batteries has to be shipped by Fedex/UPS. Fedex/UPS will charge extra handling fee (per box) on top of the regular shipping cost. (Charge detailes can be found on Page 128) Please add into shopping cart before check out. Or we will contact you by email for the extra charge.
• Ship within US address: handling fee
• Ship to Canada address: handling fee
• Ship to All other International address: handling fee
• Also ICAO/IATA regulations limit the State of Charge (SOC) to 30% for all lithium ion cells and batteries on both Passenger and Cargo aircraft.In this case, we will have to fully charge all the cells/packs and discharge to 30% of the capacity in our facility. It will delay the lead time significantly, so we strongly suggest you choose ship by Ground instead by air, because it will take equal or longer time than ship by Ground. If you have to choose ship by air, for example, oversea customers, please charge the cells/packs immediately when you receive them to maintain the cells/packs.
• Non-UN38.3 tested battery pack can not ship by air.
• If ship by Ground:
• For battery does not passed UN38.3, mush ship by Class 9, and there is extra handling fee, please add handling fee into shopping cart.
• Ship with US address: handling fee
• Ship to Canada address: Please choose UPS Standard
• For battery has passed UN38.3
• If each battery pack is ≥300Wh or each cell > 60Wh, mush ship by Class 9, and there is extra handling fee, please add handling fee into shopping cart.
• Ship with US address: handling fee
• Ship to Canada address: Please choose UPS Standard
• If each battery is <300Wh or cell <60Wh, no extra handing fee.
