10Ah D-cell pack for FT-857D

I had been looking for a battery back which can be used portable with FT-857D. There are many inexpensive, but heavy, sealed lead-acid batteries. I found some NiMH battery solutions which were either expensive, had low capacity, or did not have cells with tabs.
Battery Space has the high capacity cells at a good price. They also have the accessories required to assemble and charge the batteries. The heat shrink tubing is heavy duty and holds the cells tightly together. I could not find a better bargain for a 13.2 V charger.
I assembled the pack with 11 D-cells. The tabs were easy to solder and were long enough to configure the pack in the shape I required. The weight of the pack is under 4lbs, which is remarkable for 10Ah capacity. The best feature of these cells is capacity is truly 10Ah. I tested the batteries by leaving the radio on receive. It draws ~1amp during receive and lasted the full 10 hours. These batteries also perform well under high current draw. While transmitting at 20 Watts, the voltage does not have a significant drop.
Battery Space definitely has the best quality batteries available and at the best price.
