Back in March of this year, my wife and I had our first baby. With the receipt of our first registry gift, a battery powered baby swing, I realized that batteries were going to become quite an expense in our life. This swing required 4 D batteries, and I knew it would be in frequent use for months to come. With an eye towards saving both money and the environment, I started researching rechargeable batteries, and quickly came to realize that their is a dizzying choice of different brands on the internet these days. Many of the brands online were unknown to me, and I was a bit concerned with their safety. The last thing I wanted to see happen was for a battery to leak. After much research, however, I came to believe that these smaller brands could be just as safe as the larger brands like Duracell, Energizer,or even electronics brands like Sanyo. It was also apparent that many of the smaller name brands were designed to hold a larger charge, and thereby last longer between recharges.
One Brand that seemed to consistently get positive reviews was Powerizer NiMH batteries. I decided to go with a combination pack that included 8 D batteries, and a universal smart charger. The charger can hold 4 D batteries at a time, which is perfect, since the swing requires 4 batteries. I could always have a spare set of batteries charged when it came time to replace the 4 drained batteries. The smart charger has the added bonus of keeping the batteries fully charged while they are stored in it without overcharging them.
We change the batteries out once every few weeks. By now, we have already more than paid for the charger and the batteries. The batteries show no sign of losing their ability to hold their charge. Powerizer batteries have earned my thumbs up.
