BS-006 Short Circuit Test system allows for testing rechargeable batteries & packs under a large current draw up to 1000A. This test system consists of two units: 1) a power control unit with high current switch and 2) explosion proof chamber for meeting the UN38.3 standard. A remote control is included to allow the user to safely perform the short circuit test up to 7 meters away.

Some of the product features include:

  • High current contactors made of copper for low resistance and fast response
  • Long range wireless remote control
  • Voltmeter with 0-100V range and ±0.2% rdg ± 1digit display accuracy
  • Ammeter with 0-1000A or 0-500A DC selectable range and ±0.2% rdg ± 1digit display accuracy


Anti-Explosion Chamber
  • Explosion proof structure made of SS304 steel
  • Chamber size: 
    • Inside (WxDxH): 500mm (20") x 500mm (20") x 500mm (20")
    • Outside (WxDxH): 780mm (31") x 800mm (32") x 1250mm (49")
Chamber with Heater (optional upgrade)
  • Customers may choose the Thermal Abuse Test Chamber instead for heating at extra cost to meet the new UN38.3 standard (

Current Draw
  • The user can choose a current draw of either 500A or 1000A to best suit a battery's characteristics
Battery Holder
  • One battery holder is included to allow easy interface of the voltage and current probes to the cell's terminals. If you need more, it will be $325/each   
Remote Control
  • A remote control is included to allow the user to perform the short circuit test up to 7 meters (23.0') away. 
  • The max. capacity of Li-Ion batteries to be tested in the chamber should be limited to 4.2V@ 40Ah for single cell or 160Wh for battery pack without protection circuit
  • You may order NIST certified temerature monitor to calibrate the temperature of inside chamber at extra cost
